Michele M's Story
Although I loved my music classes in high school, I never thought I'd be able to make a living in music. I just wasn't as talented in music as lots of my friends in school. My biggest surprise is that for the last 26 years or so I've been a music teacher. I started teaching middle school choirs at Yeokum Junior High, taught high school choirs at Belton High School for nine years, and then moved to Louisiana where I've taught elementary private school, public middle and high school, and for the last 14 years have taught elementary music in public schools, which I love! and really feel that God has guided my life to serve Him through music. I actually sing solos at church -- I wouldn't have believed this could be possible since I was too scared to take a solo to solo/ensemble festival in high school! I have two wonderful children: my son is 24 and my daughter is 20. She is in school and he is trying to figure out what to do with his life while he lives at home! How exactly do you "kick" out a child you love but who needs to get out of your house? I live in Louisiana, my home was damaged in Hurricane Rita, and I wish I knew something about fixing stuff -- it would make things a little easier. I'm happy, healthy, and thankful for a good life.
